things so far

Not quite finished with Christmas decorating yet, though I did finish my tree last night. Here's my new tree topper. I've been looking for something for the last couple of years. This gem was less than $15 - and it wasn't from Target! The store that I found it in had it tucked down into a corner behind some shelves. What is it with tree toppers? You don't see them featured often...and when they are, their price is $$. For example, I absolutely loved a glass one that I saw here the other day. But it was over $100. For a tree topper - no!

In other decorating news, my husband just returned from Home Depot with a big box of blue lights for outside. Oops. He thought he was buying white. Typical Christmas, wouldn't you say? One step forward, one step back (no, not two.) Or maybe it's more appropriate to say - one trip out, one trip back. And back again until you get it right...

Good night!

Meg! This is so like my house- esp with the trips to Home Depot- thankfully its 3 blocks North of me and we can undo our damage quickly- I sent my husband for lightbulbs for our recessed lighting and he came home with outdoor floodlights- the ambiance of our family room was like a jeep with headlights on a dark dune road- so relaxing and lovely!!!!

Tree looks so great- it looks professionally decorated- is there a trick to getting the ornaments and ribbon and everrthing so full looking? is is a real tree? tell me what to do Meg- I was going to buy a fake one and have like 10 ornamanets and now its so important b/c jack is here- I have to figure it all out before the Santa years-

Love the topper, and the decorations. I always mean to get the house decorated on the weekend after Thanksgiving, but it never happens.....

Wow, these comments are so nice! Thank you everyone.

H&H, I'm sure you can easily replicate what I'm doing. My bows are professionally made - I had them done at a florist's shop. So I can't take credit for their fullness. I have about 3 at the top and then a few others sprinkled 'round the tree.

My tree is a fake, and while it's lovely, it's not one of those "I can't tell it's fake!" trees - it's just the ornaments and lights give it the right oomph.

I'm sure Jack will be delighted with your tree! He'd probably be just as happy with a Christmas bush, or Christmas twig - just as long as Santa comes. :)

Wow, that tree topper looks quite a bit like mine! So, of course, I like it!

Your posts about decorating your tree have inspired me. I'm still waiting until December officially arrives, but I've been scouting out a few new ornaments and decorations on my daily prowls to the shopping centers. I may actually get the house decorated early this year!
