uh oh

Yesterday was laundry day and my dryer broke. During the "whites" load, as you can see. So my husband quickly strung up this temporary clothesline. Good thing it's June and not January! Another reason to love summer. :)

My dryer is less than 2 years old. And it's GE. Isn't that something? It tumbles but no heat. Oh well, we'll see what the problem is. The tech won't come until next Friday. That's right, next Friday. There must be a lot of broken dryers out there.

Our washer was just quit on us, but not before depositing bleach on my delicates...ugh! The repair man said that in 2005 most washers and dryers only have a year warranty and we should have bought the extended warranty. Well, they sent the part (which was actually still under warranty) to us and my husband and I looked at it and decided we could install it ourselves--we saved the $150.00 for the guy to come back out and plug it in!!! It works fine now. I hope yours isn't too difficult to repair :)

I see a lot of ironing in your future. My condolences!

Well, it looks great but I'm sure that must be a huge inconvenience. It seems like whenever we have problems with an appliance it takes 4-ever for a repair person to come.

Wow,
That seems like a long time to wait. Yes, good thing it is summer.
I have a new LG front loading washer and dryer, and I love them.
Have a good weekend anyway.

Oh boy, my sympathies go out to you. If I lived closer, I'd offer to let you use mine.

Up until a year ago we had a dryer that dried the clothes but took about 3 cycles to get them done. I finally convinced Hubby that we needed a new one. A year later I still can't believe it when the cycle ends and my clothes are actually dry.

I hope this next week goes by quickly for you.

I know it's of little comfort but, I think that the laundry on the line looks very pretty. :)

OH NOOOOOOOO! We somehow reproduce dirty clothes so I would be completely lost without a dryer (though line dried have such a wonderful smell!).

Generally laundry is behind here (I tell ya it reproduces itself!!!) an I am embarassed at how many times we dress "out of the dryer" so it would be more embarassing to see us walk buck-naked out into the yard to retrieve our clothes!

:-o The neighbors would "love" that!

Here's a confession...I line dry everything!! I do throw things into the dryer..but ONLY for 5 minutes; and that's just to fluff out the wrinkles. Then I hang it all up...I have a chain clothes line on my back patio and it's loaded with my bedsheets and clothes as I type! I'm lucky tho..living in the desert, I can do this 355 days a year. I love your photo of your line...I find it kind of charming! Sorry that it's taking so long for the repairman to show up, tho! Ouch! Don't you just hate it when things break?? Good luck, Meg!

That happened to me once...we went and bought a new dryer and put it in and it did the same thing. The problem wasn't the dryer...it had tripped a circuit. I think it takes two to run the dryer, one for the heat and one to run it...you may want to check your circuit breaker. Hopefully thats the problem!
