new roommates

Tomorrow is my son's 5th birthday. What a milestone!

A special birthday deserves a special gift. And what do you get for a little boy who loves to swim, loves fish, loves everything to do with the water? An aquarium! We picked it out together on Sunday afternoon. It's just the right size for his room. Inside there are 2 new little betta fish, Dorothy (like Elmo's friend) and Big Fish. Dorothy is the little glob of red up there in the photo.

New roommates, indeed! And that's just the beginning of the celebration around here. We have grandparents coming to town, and a big birthday bash at the pool on Saturday with friends, both sets of grandparents, and cousins. All complete with pizza and cake. What a lucky little boy! And, what lucky parents we are to have this little person in our lives.

We had a friend who put 2 betta fish together and one ate the other one. I'm sorry, I don't want to be the one to tell bad news, but I think that betta fish are better by themselves.

Happiest Birthday to your son!

We bought our granddaughter an aquarium several months back. Started out with a 5 gallon...we had to move up to a 10 because gold fish need more space for their waste than we ever dreamed! But she loves it and we enjoy her pleasure :)

Happy 5th Birthday!

That is a really sweet picture of your son looking at his new friend. My older son just turned five at the end of February. He has asked for a pet a few times over the years. Instead we gave him a little brother. While I know that he loves his little brother dearly, there are times when he thinks that a pet might have been a little bit less trouble.

For the short time that we have experienced it, the fifth year has been wonderful but exasperating at times. I have to be constantly on my toes around him. They absorb everything at this age.

Have fun at the party. It sounds wonderful.

Well, we'll see how it goes. The PetSmart people told us females can be together, but males cannot. That's why we got males. If there's a murder in the tank, I'll be sure to report back!

oops, i mean that's why we got FEMALES! Where's my brain today!

What a sweet picture. I had no idea we had little boys with birthdays that were so close (my oldest turned 5 a couple weeks ago). Doesn't it just make you so sad to realize they'll be in KINDERGARTEN next year and aren't these little babies anymore???
