with gratitude

...for all you lovely friends. Thank you for these nice - no, more than nice - inspiring comments of encouragement and support over the last few days. You've done it again....just when I needed a little pick me up. I will be reading (and re-reading) your messages all day. Quite possibly all week.

And, to show my appreciation, I want to send you something. Some sweet little thing that will arrive right at your door. Addressed to you. From me. Just because you're great!

This is for any one of my readers - even if you've never left a comment before, you're still out there and you check in on me, and I want to say thanks. So throw your hat in the ring. Please leave your comment here...let's say...leave it by 11:59 PM Thursday night....and I'll draw a name on Friday.

Thank you...so much...again. Love, Meg

Hi there, coming out from lurking into being a little more active. I wanted to post so badly the other day regarding your son's meet and greet. I have 2 little boys ( 6 and 7) and you said so eloquently what i was feeling this week.

I just want to hold them on my lap, read them stories, kiss their scrapes and bruises, and never let the world harm them in any way.

Hang in there - and squeeze tight :-)

My daughter starts kindergarten in a few weeks too. I'm not worried about it though. I would be if she wasn't so excited about it.

How are you holding up? I'm still trying to adjust to these full days myself. Counting the minutes til the bus gets home most of the time. I hope to find my groove soon and I hope you do too. Good luck, Meg.

As I drove my daughter to Freshman orientation today we reminisced about her first day of kindergarten. It seems like it was just a short time ago I was taking her there and driving away with tears in my eyes. Now she's ready to start high school which is hard in a whole different way! They grow up so fast, cherish these moments.

Thinking of you today...I was helping a friend set up her classroom for her new teaching position today and yesterday. She's going to be teaching 3rd grade in a very low economic area...and she is so pummped b/c these kids are so eager to learn!!...I love doing all that fun decorating and artsy stuff...so the kids will have an awesome classroom to learn in...so after reading your post last night...I remembered today when I arrived at the school that today was another school day for your son...I said a quick prayer...for him and you...it will get better...each day is a new day for many 1st... many lessons...and tons of great memories...he will do great...and you will start finding your "groove" soon...I'm sure...let us know how things are going...

Blessings...

Before you know it they will be all grown up and married. I can hardly beleive my two are grown and married. It seems like just yesterday that they were off to the first day of school. I see all my neighborhood kids trotting off to the bus stop and it makes me a little sad I'm not there.

It feels so good when someone really gets what we're feeling or experiencing, doesn't it?

You are so sweet to want to officially thank your readers.

You (or maybe it's the hormones)have got me all choked up again.

I've been here before, but as you know, you start at one blog and end up on a bunny trail. Well, no more. I've just spent a good while here at your blog and haven't even scratched the surface. I'm adding you to my favourites...so I won't get lost again!!

My baby is also starting kindergarten... my baby and my last to go. I am excited for him - because he is so darn excited. He's no longer a baby... he's going to be a teenager soon! Ok... in 8 years he's going to be a teenager but him going off to school means that day is one day closer. You'll see your baby will be so excited about school it will warm your heart and with your second you will just be excited - or mostly be excited... you'll never stop crying for them though! Best of luck!

Keep smiling and think of all the wonderful new adventures he'll have and the stories he'll have to tell you over cookies and milk after school.
I don't have a blog but I really enjoy reading yours.

Oh Meg,
You make OUR day, too! You probably already have heard of this book, but it's a favorite for when the little ones head out to school that first day... it's called 'The Kissing Hand'... I HIGHLY recommend it! It's just as warm and comforting for mom's as it is for the little ones, too! Love the photo of class! As a teacher, I love seeing how others set up their room, decorate, etc. Consider my hat officially tossed in! : )

I am 51 and have a 15 year old daughter. I can still remember oh so well when strangers would ask if I had children ( was a nurse), I would answer, "I have an almost 2 year old." They would reply, "Oh! That is such a great age!". Then she was 3 and they would respond the same way! And then she was 4, and then 5 and so on. EVERY age WAS and IS still great! I truly enjoy her now, at 15 , as much as I did at 2, AND 3, AND 4, and so on! Life is about change. In us AND our children. IN is, BECAUSE of our children, and the same for them, because of US! Life is good! Savor it. Take it ALL in...Find the good. You always can. (PS- I love luriking here!)

I am now 51 and we have a 15 y o daughter. I can still recall, so vividly, when people would ask me if I had children, I would answer, " I have an almost-2-year-old." They would reply with, "Oh! That is such a great age!" And then she was 3, and 4 and 5, and their answers would always be the same... to enjoy her. And I realized very early on, that no matter how old she was, it WAS a great age! Life is about change. In THEM, which is a bit easier to notice, but also in US, as parents, BECAUSE of them. Change is good. Life is good. Enjoy this part of their lives and know there are so many more, wonderful memories to be made. It DOES get better. Just when you think you could not love your child any more, she becomes an-almost-16-year old beautiful young woman you are so very proud of. Life is indeed good, and I am blessed. The hardest part is not being able to tell my daughter all this, because, unfortunatley, she is AN ALMOST 16 YEAR OLD (who- knows-everything-and-doesn't-need me-to-tell-her-such-things! Oy.

I don't have children of my own ( wish I did), but I know when I leave my nieces and nephews that I feel a little tug on my heart until I see them again.

My heart is with you..and now I'm going for a tissue because that last paragraph really hit home. My baby starts his first day of college on the 5th and I still remember those wonderful creations that decorated my fridge and the sweet stories he came home from school with. I know it's hard to send your baby off to school but hold fast, you are about to enter in to a very sweet time. Hugs to you!
